Lesson 11 - Advanced memory operations in the C language

In the previous lesson, Person database in C - Loading and searching persons, we finished our first larger and useful app.

From the past lessons we can allocate memory dynamically and work with it at least on a basic level. In today's C tutorial, we're going to look at some of the functions that the standard library offers us and look at the pointers once again.

Pointer chaining

So far, we've only worked with simple pointers. We simply allocated a memory block and worked with it as with an array. But what if we want to have e.g. an array of arrays? Without dynamic allocation, the process would be simple:

int multidimensional_array[25][25];

But when using dynamic allocation, it isn't that easy. Let's first look at pointer chaining. We know that a pointer points to
